Letterkenny [SandLR] (1909-1960)
Opened on the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway.
Note: text in square brackets is added for clarity and was not part of the location's name.
This was the terminus of the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway. It is now a bus station.
The station was located to the north of the earlier Letterkenny Railway Letterkenny [LR] through station on the other side of Ramelton Road (since realigned).
To the east of the stations the S&LR crossed the LR and a connection between the lines allowed trains from Strabane to access Letterkenny [LR] station, a through station on the line west to Burtonport. The lines ran parallel east from Letterkenny, gradually separating for about two miles.
The station building remains standing as the bus station. A nearby goods shed also survives. The southern station has been obliterated, the west part of the site being a roundabout and the eastern part being a supermarket and its approach road and car park.
