This junction was located to the west of Prestonpans station.
The original connection was a reversing siding on the south side of the line, approached from the west. From here the branch ran south west to an old brick works and another reversing spur. Going north the line crossed over the North British Railway to a junction with a siding, which ran parallel alongside the main line, to the east to Dolphingston Colliery. The main route of the mineral line continued north to Prestongrange Brick and Fire Clay Works and Prestongrange Colliery before finishing at the quayside at Morrison's Haven. There was a signal box on the north side of the North British Railway, opposite the reversing spur.
The later layout was different. There were two trailing sidings on the south side of the main line. On the north side were dead end sidings which could be accessed from the west and a connection allowing trains from the Prestongrange Colliery to run directly into these sidings or run to the east on the main line.
The box closed in 1964.
The location of the box was the west end of the Dolphingstone Deviation (Railtrack) where a section of the main line was realigned to the south due to mining subsidence west of Prestonpans station.
