Opened from a new Ballymena station (just north of the Belfast and Ballymena Railway terminus Ballymena [1st] which closed) to Coleraine and Portrush. Stations opened at Ballymena, Killagan, Ballymoney, Coleraine and Portrush

Portrush station rebuilt and enlarged in Tudor style complete with a clocktower.

Begins steamer operation with vessels operating from Belfast to Bangor. Excursions operated to locations such as Ardglass and Portrush.
26/07/1899Giant's Causeway, Portrush and Bush Valley Railway and Tramway
Conversion to overhead lines complete. Extended to Portrush station.

Laharna Hotel, Whitehead, purchased by the Belfast and Northern Counties Railway. The railway also created a beach by transferring sand from Portrush, built a clifftop path on Black Head and a promenade and small pier.
