This was a two platform station on the north side of a level crossing. The main station building, a two storey stone building on the southbound platform, still stands. Scremerston itself is a mile to the west. The site is close to the east coast.

The signal box was on the west side of the line south of the level crossing opposite the goods siding which was approached by reversal from the southbound line.

To the north a colliery line ran west to Scremerston Colliery and Tile Works.

To the south a siding ran east to Scremerston Lime Works on the coast.
