These sidings served a tank farm and distribution depot above Granton Harbour which was located east of Granton Gasworks. Around 1955 the Asiatic Petroleum Siding was relaid under Shell Petroleum / Scottish Oils (part of BP) and Shell-Mex Ltd. The new siding ran parallel to, and to the east of, the former course of the Western Breakwater line.
To the west of the former Western Breakwater line was a second set of sidings, Texaco Siding [Granton] serving a second tank farm laid out on the ground west of the breakwater line and the twisting line to Granton Gas Works. A third tank farm, Regent Oil (part of Texaco) was close to Shore Road and also on the west side of the breakwater line.
The terminal sidings received petroleum tanks from Grangemouth until their closure in 1980. The Texaco siding survived until 1981 and the line to Granton Gasworks was closed and lifted in 1986.
