An EWS oil train running from Grangemouth to Wigton, Cumbria, de-railed at the site of the former Swing Bridge signalbox and re-railed at Carmuirs East Junction.

As a result of damage to the track, and the repairs required, the Edinburgh to Dunblane, and Glasgow Queen Street to Cumbernauld and Falkirk Grahamston services were affected.
