Railway poster up for auction could fetch £900 [Berwick Advertiser]

Date: 03/11/2011

One of the most sought-after Berwick railway posters is expected to be sold for up to £900 at an auction today. The 40 inches by 50 inches poster is emblazoned with the words: ‘Royal Border Bridge, Berwick-on-Tweed’ and shows a steam train hurtling across the bridge, as men working on the track step aside. It is a particularly valuable poster because it was the first poster produced for the newly-formed British Railways by Terence Cuneo, now widely regarded as Britain’s finest steam train artist.
