Steam railway set to expand [Lancashire Evening Post]

Preston’s steam railway is looking to expand its huge engine shed on the city’s docklands as it bids to attracts more visitors. The Ribble Steam Railway, which runs steam trips along the track from its base on Chain Caul Way to the junction with Strand Road, is looking to add extra space at its headquarters. It has submitted plans to the city’s council to extend the shed to allow it to fit new locomotives and wagons from the Furness Railway Trust which has merged with it.

The February Ribble Steam Gala saw two visiting locos, including the immaculate ex NCB Bagnall 0-4-0ST 2648/1941 Linda from the Chasewater Railway. With an impressive bark from its chimney Linda accelerates a train towards the exchange sidings.
