Minister defends rail consultation [PA]

A leading Scottish Government minister has insisted a consultation on rail services was aimed at making them 'fit for purpose'. Infrastructure Secretary Alex Neil did concede that some of the ideas put forward for changes were 'a bit out of the box'. He was speaking after a consultation by the Scottish Government agency Transport Scotland suggested travellers on some routes could end up having to pay more and that passengers may end up having to stand for longer on train journeys.
