Hundreds of travellers heading for London were left stranded for almost six hours in “horrific” conditions when their train broke down. Passengers said they were “treated like cattle” without enough food, water or seats when the 11am First Great Western train from Penzance to London Paddington came to a halt. The stricken train broke down yesterday five miles from Pewsey station in Wiltshire with around 500 people on board.
