Calls for investigation after Tube train doors open between stations [Metro]

Date: 23/10/2013

There have been calls for an investigation into the reliability of London Underground trains after the doors on a packed Tube carriage opened between stations. The Rail Maritime and Transport union said a baby in a buggy was near the door when it opened on a Piccadilly line train on Sunday. The union said the incident raised questions about the safety of the trains, which it said were 40 years old but not due to be replaced for another decade.

There's not much action in Acton when it's dark and persisting down with rain. The camera is looking East towards Hammersmith on 16 January, but the Piccadilly line train is heading for Heathrow.

King's Cross St Pancras westbound Piccadilly line platform on 14 July 1994.  The poster in Spanish reads 'There'll be someone at home waiting to hear your voice'.  It goes on to compare the cost of a call to Spain with that of a hot chocolate and pastry, and reminds us 'It's good to talk'.  You'll have to imagine a Spanish Bob Hoskins.
