Conon Bridge platform reopened ahead of A9 bridge work [BBC News]

A village railway platform has been officially reopened by Transport Minister Keith Brown.
The stop at Conon Bridge in Ross-shire has been shut since 1960. The new £600,000 platform is part of a package of measures put together by Transport Scotland to ease congestion during work on the Kessock Bridge. [From Andrew Wallace]

A village railway platform closed since 1960 is open and ready for use as part of an effort to ease congestion during work on a road bridge.

The almost finished new station at Conon Bridge on 7 January 2013, with 158718 passing the one coach length platform on its way to Kyle of Lochalsh. Utilitarian is probably the kindest description of the new station, which is due to open to the public on the 7th February 2013, by which time it will have a standard waiting shelter and a small car park.
