‘Masterpiece’ Ballochmyle Viaduct gets major award [Scotsman]

BALLOCHMYLE Viaduct, the UK’s highest railway bridge, which featured in the Tom Cruise film Mission Impossible, won a major award today from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). The 177ft (54m) Ayrshire crossing, whose track is higher than the Forth Bridge’s, has been designated a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark after being upgraded to carry heavier coal trains.
