Ladybank Railway Station on track to become transport hub [The Courier]

Date: 17/02/2013

Transformation of Ladybank Railway Station to enhance its position as a transport hub is expected to begin next month. Access to platforms is being improved, a 19th century waiting room restored to provide community meeting facilities and new car parking spaces added. Children are already helping to create a community garden at the halt. Ladybank Development Trust, which is working on the project with several other bodies, is delighted with the changes afoot. Spokesman David Croll said: “Work is expected to begin in March on the first phase of these improvements which will see the installation of step-free access ramps and a small amount of additional parking adjacent to the eastern platform. “In keeping with the historic status of the station, the ramps will be constructed using stone from the old wagon shops which are being demolished as they are beyond economic repair.
