National Express-owned c2c will continue to run the Essex Thameside rail service for another 15 years after it beat three competitors to win a new franchise. The Department for Transport promised the new deal would include a fleet of new trains and thousands more seats on the line between London and the commuter hubs of Barking, Basildon, and Southend.
