Strike hits Settle to Carlisle rail service [BBC News]

Date: 13/12/2014

Staff on the historic Settle to Carlisle railway line are taking part in a one-day strike in a row over a planned compulsory redundancy. Saturday's stoppage involves a small group of workers who provide at-seat trolley services on the Northern Rail-run trains. They are employed by the Settle and Carlisle Railway Development Company, which says it needs to make savings.
