Transport chiefs are finally ready to fire the starting gun on plans to build one of the busiest rail stations in the north at Inverness Airport.
After more than a decade on the drawing board, the Press and Journal can today reveal the detailed proposals for a new £2million station at Dalcross.

Highlands and Islands transport body Hitrans releases detailed plans of a proposed new railway station to serve Inverness Airport.

The former Dalcross station, between Inverness and Nairn, viewed from the north side of the level crossing in July 2011. The station closed in 1965 and like a number of others on this line is now a private residence. If a new station opens for Inverness Airport as proposed it will be sited to the east of here.
