Major Scottish transport projects like dualling the A9 and extending Edinburghs tram line could cost up to seven times as much as similar European schemes, experts have revealed.
Construction of the Borders Railway and the Fastlink busway in Glasgow were also found by Edinburgh Napier University to have been more expensive than those on the continent.
Researchers at its Transport Research Institute (TRI) said factors could include fewer bids for Scottish projects and a larger numbers of subcontractors doing the work pushing up costs. [From Crinan Dunbar]
