Flying Scotsman will measure up to modern trains in unique Yorkshire railway event [Yorkshire Post]

World famous locomotive Flying Scotsman will travel alongside three modern trains in Yorkshire tomorrow to celebrate the past, present and future of Britains railway. The trains will line up on the East Coast Main Line at Tollerton, North Yorkshire, at around 6am before moving south to York. Flying Scotsman will be joined by an HST and InterCity 225 from Virgin Trains current fleet, as well as one of the operators new Azuma trains, which come into service next year.

A CrossCountry service runs north through the site of Tollerton station in the Vale of York on 25 March 2010. Nothing remains of the station, which closed to pasengers in 1965, but the site sees regular use nowadays by engineering and maintenance staff.
