Plans submitted for new railway station in north-east town [Evening Express]

Date: 03/05/2018

Plans have been lodged for a new railway station in a north-east town more than 50 years after the last one closed. Network Rail wants to build the facility, which would have two new platforms, at Kintore. The transport body has submitted plans to Aberdeenshire Council and, if approved, the station would be in the north of the town beside the B987 and Northern Road. Network Rail says the station would have a positive transformational impact on the area. It would be the first new rail station in the north-east since 2009 when the £3 million Laurencekirk platforms opened.

An unidentified class 47 at Kintore in May 1987. The train is approaching the former junction for the Alford branch from the South. I had a fast car and no mortgage. Happy days.
