ScotRail unveils next phase of Aberdeen station redevelopment [ScotRail]

Date: 19/03/2021

ScotRail is continuing with the next phase of the £8million redevelopment of Aberdeen station.

The project will make significant changes to the look of the station, which has sat in the heart of Aberdeen city centre for more than 150 years.

Since Christmas, work has been taking place to conserve, maintain and protect the listed building areas of the station.

The train operator is also redeveloping staff accommodation and building additional operational staff areas around platform two to allow for future growth.

Aberdeen railway station concourse on 16th May 2018. Just follow the green line to the rail replacement bus. The buses are only up the stairs, across the connecting bridge into the multi story car park and then across the road!

As I alighted from the Class 158 from Stonehaven at Aberdeen on 10th January 2019 I was immediately hit by the strong smell of gloss paint. The whole of the station is covered in scaffolding with workmen beavering away. The north half of the main concourse is rather gloomy in its current state.
