The Prince of Wales donned a kilt for a visit to mark the 150th anniversary of the opening of a unique stretch of railway in Scotland. [Unveiling of the Red Wheel was with Alan Ross of Network Rail. The station opened on 01/11/1870 as a terminus for the line to West Helmsdale (extended to Helmsdale 16/05/1871). With the opening of a connection to Golspie, Dunrobin become a through (but now private) station on 19/06/1871. -RS]
