A Highland Explorer heads south above Loch Long, before the turn into Glen Douglas. Appropriately the dirt track to the right of the train is the route of the Three Lochs Way, popular with walkers and cyclists. This portion of the route runs between Garelochhead and Arrochar. At Garelochhead the route is far above the station. It is more easily accessed at Helensburgh Upper. (See https://threelochsway.co.uk )
