Multi-sector land and property developer Hargreaves Land has announced the sale of Ravenstruther Rail Terminal, a former coal loading terminal on the West Coast Main Line (WCML), between Carstairs and Motherwell in Scotland. The horseshoe-shaped terminal, adjacent to the town of Lanark in South Lanarkshire, has been sold to the aggregates supplier, Cloburn Quarry Company.

Scene at Ravenstruther on a cold and overcast April morning in 2012. The Scottish Coal disposal point handled coal brought in by road, primarily from opencast operations in South Lanarkshire. Freightliner 66506 is about to pass below the hopper with a train of high capacity vehicles for loading. Ultimate destination for this particular trainload will be Longannet power station.
