Glasgow memories: When thousands flocked to George Square to celebrate tram jubilee [Glasgow Times]

Date: 05/01/2022

Among my family, friends and colleagues, I'm known for my love of the Glasgow trams. I love the cars, the lines, the rosettes on pre-1962 buildings. I love our photos showing them at the heart of Glasgows hustle and bustle. And I love the way Glaswegians are still proud of their tramways almost sixty years after they disappeared from the citys streets.

The tram is Mark 1 Coronation 1148, one of the original batch from December 1937, withdrawn on 1 September 1962. (It had to be rebodied in May 1951 after the fire at Newlands Depot.)
