Heysham (pronounced Hee-sham, according to the very annoyed locals) is the end destination of the 1/1A bus route that students at Lancaster Uni take to leave campus. Now in my fourth year of uni, I decided to travel to this semi-mythical place to discover what really goes on there.

Northern Sprinter 150224 arrives at Heysham Port to connect with the IOMSP MV 'Ben My Chree' seen here newly arrived from Douglas. See image [[34887]] for the same location in 1987, since when the track has been rationalised and the roof and side panels removed revealing the ships in the harbour alongside.

On possibly its first revenue earning working a very clean DRS 68031, and class mate 68024 Centaur, has just arrived light engine at Heysham to collect a flask load for Sellafield. The guard has locked the train in to the power station siding and is making his way back to the rear loco. See image [[37885]] for the same location but different motive power five years earlier.
