Celebrations ready for Waggonway's 300th birthday [East Lothian Courier]

A packed day of celebrations for the tricentenary of Scotland's earliest railway will take place tomorrow (Saturday).

The 1722 Waggonway Project has arranged a day of celebration, including a commemoration, open day and an evening 300th birthday event.

An excavation has been taking place over the summers of 2017 and 2018 at Cockenzie harbour. Archaeologists from the Heritage Group have been digging out the sites of various features including a waggon turntable and tipping pits. See https://www.1722waggonway.co.uk/ for more details.
