60103 'Flying Scotsman' on display at Kings Cross, on the afternoon of Saturday, 15th October 2022 and throughout the entire weekend. This display marked the start of the events celebrating the A3's centenary and also the 170th anniversary of the opening of Kings Cross as the London terminus of the Great Northern Railway, designed by Lewis Cubitt. I asked an official why the centenary is being celebrated now when this world-famous locomotive did not enter service until February 1923. I was told that this event is just 'a chance to show the locomotive off in its famous London terminus' and that the 'real events' will kick off in February 2023.
