Aberdeen train station celebrates its 155th anniversary tomorrow and was, upon its opening on November 4th 1867, described in the press as 'a truly magnificent building'. [The station was substantially rebuilt 1913-1916. -RS]

Shopping malls have their knockers but surely few would disagree that Union Square in Aberdeen is an improvement on the rather bleak station approach of the past. Looking towards the former facade of the station on 28/09/2016. The station can still be entered from here, but the main entrance is outside.

Sleeper services didn't have a good day on the 29th. I was walking into town up South College Street and wondered why GBRf 66704 was overhead and soon found out when I got to Clayhills at 13:00, so I watched the action from the car park while 66704 took 73967 off the front of the rake of nice new sleeper coaches and shunted it to a siding.
