Leith Citadel was the alternative name for this terminus, and Citadel Youth Club occupies the building today. The frontage on Commercial Street remains intact, while here the site of the platforms has remained undeveloped since the 1960s when the railway pulled out. Note the platform edge and the single, rather puny-looking piece of original roof ironwork.

One of the NB's 3 termini in Leith this one on Commercial Street closed in 1947. A writer of 1884 regarded this is a shabby building though it may have had claim at some time to be ornamental. There's just no pleasing some people as it looks good enough to me 131 years on though it could maybe do with a full clean. Happily in permanent use as a youth centre in 2015, with a modern entrance at the platform end.

Saturday 29 August 1964 was the day of the SLS/BLS J36 Railtour. The special, which was hauled throughout by 65234, visited selected branch lines in and around Edinburgh. The train is seen here at North Leith with participants returning to their seats prior to departure on the next leg of the tour to Penicuik see image [[23124]].
