Glenfinnan: How a Highland hamlet is cracking under Harry Potter mania [The National]

It was once a quiet, serene Highland gem, full of Jacobite history and bursting with stunning scenery.

But back in the early 2000s, Glenfinnan was handed the poisoned chalice of accidental fame through being chosen as a location for the filming of the Warner Bros Harry Potter films.

Having drawn forward to allow a ScotRail service to pass, passengers are allowed to stretch their legs at Glenfinnan. The train has its own Souvenir Shop. The station enjoys a burst of activity unrivalled the rest of the day.
