The Velorail Project involves the running of pedal powered carriages on the closed railway line. It is the innovative brainchild of IRD Kiltimagh CLG and Kiltimagh Tourism Association and part of a long standing ambition to make use of the local resource which is the closed Railway line. The last train ran on this line about 1975 with passenger traffic having ceased in 1963 and it is our ambition that this line will once again contribute to the local economy and future generations of Kiltimagh people, which is somewhat ironic, given that the railway carried so many people from the area, many never to return.
