Trains will not be able to serve Ayr for several weeks while work is carried out to make Ayr Station Hotel safe, ScotRail has confirmed.

The inevitable, but at least the dilemma about the Station Hotel is settled. Despite an earlier attempt at setting the hotel on fire it appears nothing was done to enhance security. Ayr is in chaos, traffic gridlocked, all accesses to the vicinity of the station taped off by the police.
