The Station and Station Hotel at Ayr, seen here on 1st June 2012. The impressive structure was built to the design of Andrew Galloway, Chief Engineer of the G&SWR, in 1886. The St Enoch Hotel, former main line station and Subway in February 1975. The station had closed in 1966, the hotel was demolished in 1977 to be replaced by the St Enoch Centre and the Subway station became a travel centre (later a cafe) after the entrance was relocated further north on St Enoch Square.
