The private Edinburgh train station only Queen Victoria was allowed to use [Edinburgh Live]

Known as the Queen's Station, the forgotten railway hub [a single platform] was created in 1850 [opened in 1846 as Meadowbank] and situated near the old St Margaret's Railway Depot at what is now Meadowbank Terrace.

This station was west of the London Road overbridge and St Margarets Shed. There was only one platform, on the south side of the line. The Duke^s Walk and Queen^s Drive ran west to Holyrood Palace. T

Looking west from London Road bridge at St. Margarets in 1989. On the right is the former siding to the (wagon) Sheet Shed, destroyed by fire in 1922. On the left was located the Queens Platform, built in 1850 for Queen Victoria (being convenient for Holyrood Palace) and used for about thirty years. This picture was taken during the short period prior to electrification when the this stretch of line was experimentally relaid at 2' gauge as a potential cost saving measure.
