The popularity of a steam train charted to take passengers from Carlisle to York organised by the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company is creating a demand for more steam specials.

The A1 Steam Trust organised The Pennine Explorer tour. 60163 'Tornado' makes up time as it rushes through Settle in the evening of 22 May 2021. The tour ran from Leicester to Carlisle via York and the Tyne Valley but on the return journey it travelled south over the S&C.
