The 50th anniversary of the bravery and gallantry of James Kennedy GC will be marked in a ceremony tomorrow 1100 at St Rollox, where sadly the works have closed since the plaque shown in these photos was unveiled six years ago.

James Stirrat Topping Kennedy GC (11th September 1930 - 21st December 1973)

James Kennedy was a security guard at British Rail's Springburn Works and was assaulted, then shot and killed, whilst repeatedly attempting to foil an armed robbery in the early hours of 21st Devember 1973. He was posthumously awarded the George Cross for his courage and sacrifice.
