Craighead Viaduct Piers to be demolished

Craighead Viaduct, south of Bothwell NB station, is to be demolished for its stone.

View south across the Clyde from the base of the 2nd remaining pier. The stump of the central pier which collapsed unexpectedly in 2015 is just discernible breaking the surface of the water slightly right of centre near the south bank. The viaduct had 6 masonry piers, of which three were demolished in 2008.
