The following is an extract from a communication received by Railscot from the Capital Rail Action Group.....the petition submitted last week on behalf of the Capital Rail Action Group calling for the re-introduction of local passenger services on the Edinburgh South Suburban Railway is now up and running on the Scottish Parliament website for perusal, discussion and - most importantly! - signing at http://epetitions.scottish.parliament.uk/view_petition.asp?PetitionID=163 The closing date for signing is 8 September 2007 - the 45th anniversary of the line's closure to local passenger trains. The briefing document contained within the body of the petition could only be submiited as a Word document. The full briefing - in colour and with map and photographs - can be viewed at http://www.transformscotland.org.uk/info/docs/2007-03-30_ESSR.pdf Finally, we have set up a separate website to go with the campaign. This is at a rudimentary stage just now but is nevertheless a useful start and can be viewed at http://www.reopenthesouthsub.org.uk/
