A £5m redevelopment of Gourock station is set to go ahead after years of false starts. A modern station, improved customer information systems and a walkway to the ferry terminal are just some of the benefits. The project will replace previous plans for a large transport interchange that would have required Gourock station to be moved. Private development proposals were not successful. Transport Scotland and Inverclyde council have accepted NR proposals for a station upgrade, including stabilisation of the sea wall and platforms.

Class 314s are only slowly disappearing, and on 7 March 2019 there seemed to be more of them on Inverclyde services than ever. I notice that they are preferred for the semi-fast services; maybe the acceleration of 380s better suits the more frequent stops. 314210 stands at Gourock Platform 1 with the doors open to the bracing sea air - there are no buttons to close them!

There^s a lot of metalwork in this view across the buffers at Gourock on 14 November 2017. Class 380s are the usual fare on the Inverclyde lines, but ageing 314s are still to be seen. This one will form the next semi-fast service to Glasgow.

Platform 1 at Gourock is very convenient for ferry passengers but if Platform 3 is in use it is a bit of a trudge. 380108 waits in Platform 3 to form a fast service to Glasgow Central on 31st July 2017.
