Stop that tram! A Lancashire Constabulary patrol, leaving the nearby police station, overtakes Blackpool No. 707 outside Fleetwood's North Euston hotel. The hotel name betrays its LNWR origins and the building overlooks the ferry and tram terminals, close to the site of the long demolished railway station. This location, previously just for setting down, has become the Fleetwood Ferry raised tram stop for the new flexity tram services. Blackpool Transport double deck Balloon Car No. 711 negotiates the sand filled turning circle at Starr Gate to head for Fleetwood. The bridge in the background carries the road over the Blackpool South railway line and marks the entrance to Squires Gate station. Shortly after this image was taken the tracks were lifted to allow a refurbishment in connection with the new tram depot construction. 711 was later rebuilt with wider entrances to be compatible with the new platforms.
