Blackpool Central closed in 1964, with the line being cut back to Blackpool South, and the site was quickly cleared. An amusement arcade was built on part of the station and the areas between platforms were filled in to create a huge car park but the toilet block survived, for forty five years until its recent demolition. In this view towards the old buffer stops the remains of the toilets are being cleared away in the shadow of a fairly distinctive looking local landmark.
