A Blackpool to Liverpool service, formed by Northern Sprinter 156468, approaches Preston and runs through the cutting immediately east of Maudlands Viaduct. If the Blackpool electrification plans are implemented the mast in the foreground will no longer mark the end of the wires on this line.
