47432 passes the site of Maudland Viaduct signalbox as it leaves the bridge and nears Preston on a Blackpool to Euston service in January 1981. The train is approaching the cutting and signal shown in [See image 19011]. The three tracks at this location (formerly four) were later reduced to two and by 2017 the area was being prepared for electrification.

Class 40 No. 40083 on a Blackpool to Euston service passes Weeton cabin, which was perched high on the cutting side to allow a view over the adjacent roadbridge. The box was switched out by this time and later demolished. View towards Singleton and Poulton-le-Fylde in March 1981. [See image 19299] for a 2008 comparison at the same spot. Map Ref SD 385338
