Remains of sidings at Birky Side, between Fushiebridge and Tynehead on the Waverley Route, photographed on 5 May 2008. The sidings were used over many years by St Margarets shed as a dumping ground for the ash produced by the depot's large steam allocation. In the 1950s that allocation was over 200 locomotives - a lot of ash!
