A passing steam train may have started a wildfire on a nature reserve in Sutherland, RSPB Scotland has said. About four square miles (10 square km) of moorland at the RSPB's Forsinard reserve has been destroyed. [From John Gray]

View northeast through Forsinard station on 27 August from the open level crossing. The former station building is now a visitor information centre run by the RSPB which has a reserve here and the young lady in blue watering the platform plants is a student from Norfolk doing a holiday job.
