Launched at the Pointhouse yard of A&J Inglis on the Clyde in 1940 and operated by the LNER (and latterly BR) the Lincoln Castle was eventually withdrawn from service in 1978. The ferry service between New Holland and Hull ceased in 1981 on the opening of the Humber bridge.

I took up position at Aberdour on the scheduled time. An inner Fife Circle service arrived, I took a shot of that, then raced to Kinghorn thinking that I would make it because of the time lag due to possible signal hold ups. Luckily my camera was ready and I took this as I passed it.
