1839 Designed an electric locomotive which could carry two passengers.

1842 Produced an electric locomotive for the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway to use, a possible engine for the Cowlairs Incline. It achieved 4mph but did not carry enough batteries to be practical for the company.
