Charles Landale, of Newport in Fife, was the engineer involved in the re-alignment of the Elgin Railway in 1821.
He was the engineer of the Dundee and Newtyle Railway which opened on 16 December 1831. After some disagreements with the board of the railway he was dismissed on the 18th of June 1829.
It has been commented that he was listed elsewhere as an 'Apothecary' and may not have been a suitable choice of engineer.
