George McFarlane is perhaps today best known for the Ballindalloch Viaduct (or Balnellan Viaduct) on the Speyside Way. It is an iron lattice girder over the River Spey which has a plaque declaring his name ^1863 - G. McFarlane - Engineer - Dundee^.
1856 Sets up as a boiler and ship tank maker on Dock Street, Dundee. Formerly worked as a foreman for Gourlay Brothers & Co.
